In 1910 the villagers planned to build a Shooting Range. Half way through the build it was decided it was in the wrong place! So they literally “upped sticks” and moved it to the corner of the field owned by the local squire, who kindly charged only a shilling a year rent!
Known, in those days, as the “Rifle Range”, a skittle alley was added in 1924, which is still considered one of the best in the area.
After WW2 they started holding dances and whist drives. In 1963 a kitchen, mains water and toilets were added. A sprung floor was installed and the Rifle Range began its life as a proper Village Hall, holding parties, dances and other village events.
The land the hall is standing on has since been purchased and more land was donated for a car park and our beautiful Play Park, where we hold our legendary Fete. The kitchen and all other facilities have been recently updated and refurbished.
